The Tour de Yorkshire 2019 takes place from the 2nd to the 5th May 2019 with the women’s race moving to Friday and Saturday this year. The women’s stages will start in the morning followed by the men’s stages in the afternoons. If you are looking to experience the Tour de Yorkshire, there are lots of different opportunities with the different start and finish points however, it’s a good idea to plan ahead as rolling road blocks and restricted parking will be in place in certain areas.
The opening stage of the Tour de Yorkshire takes place on Thursday the 2nd of May and will see the race travel over 178km from South Yorkshire through East Yorkshire and finishing in North Yorkshire. Friday the 3rd of May in Barnsley will see the start of the Tour de Yorkshire women’s race and stage two of the men’s race. The first climb in North Yorkshire is Cote de Robin’s Hill, expected at approximately 11am for the women and 4.24 for the men’s race. After which the race will head to the beautiful spa town of Harrogate and onto Ripon.
Saturday the 4th May sees the Tour de Yorkshire take in the stunning North Yorkshire coastline. This stage of the race will start from Bridlington but will take in Robin’s Hood Bay, Whitby and Sandsend and highlights along the route include the stunning Whitby Abbey. The women’s race finishes on Saturday after a seafront sprint in the historic town of Scarborough .
Tour de Yorkshire 2019
Sunday the 5th May is the final stage for the Tour de Yorkshires men’s race which takes place over 182km and starts in Halifax, taking in the Yorkshire Dales including some of the pretty towns and villages. The Tour de Yorkshire 2019 race is expected to end in Leeds at around 5.15pm.
Whilst the Tour de Yorkshire is a great time for cycling enthusiasts to visit North Yorkshire, the area should be considered at other times of the year as well.
