Royal Trends For Weddings In 2019

With one royal wedding already taken place this year and another due in October,  it is not surprising that engaged couples are looking to the royal weddings for inspiration for their weddings in 2019 and 2020.

One of the most talked about features of Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle,  was the stunning flowers displays by florist Philippa Craddock. The striking green floral arch caught the eye of many those who had tuned their TV in to watch the ceremony. It is this trend of using lots of green with a more natural appearance  rather than the solid-floral backdrops seen at many previous  celebrity weddings, that has been picked up for weddings in 2019. A recent survey reporting that a third of couples surveyed planned to include greenery in their decorations.

The more informal cake chosen by Harry and Meghan can also be seen in the choices for weddings in 2019. Meghan and Harry chose a four-tiered, deconstructed cake, flavoured with elder flower and lemon curd complimented by an outside layer of Swiss meringue buttercream, decorated with fresh flowers. For weddings in 2019 many couples have opted for sponges flavoured with elderflower, salted caramel and lemon covered in buttercream or fondant with fresh flower decoration.

Another influence appears to be evident in the choice of  wedding bouquet,  with the the more elaborate larger bouquets being overlooked  for smaller more delicate bouquets also containing something personal to the couple. It is reported that Prince Harry picked some of the flowers that were used in the royal bouquet as well as myrtle being included as it is a royal family tradition.
