The Grassington Festival celebrates 36 years in 2016 with 15 days of music and arts in the Yorkshire Dales. The festival runs from the 17th June – 2nd July and features a number of bands, both new and old including a few familiar faces from the 80s.
The 17th of June marks the opening night of Grassington Festival, when 80s band Hue and Cry will take to the stage. Other popular events will include the annual “festival in the square food festival” on the 19th June featuring its popular food demonstrations . On the same day classical musical lovers will be able to enjoy a performance of Handel’s Messiah. The Grassington Festival as well as music also includes crafts and pastimes. There will be a range of different craft demonstrations as diverse as dry stone walling photography and sewing.
Ruby Turner, a seasoned performer from “Later with Jools Holland” will be putting on performance of blues and soul on the 21st June. Other familiar musical performers are The Strangler on the 1st July and last night finale at Grassington Festival will feature Marc Almond, Toyah and a DJ set.
