Starting at York Railway station you will cycle past the Roman-era multi-angular Tower and through a gateway in the medieval city walls at Bootham Bar,  carry on to be greeted by the sights of the majestic and breathtaking York Minster. This cycling route will also take in the streets of The Shambles and the impressive keep of Clifford’s Tower. Why not take a break  and look at another form of transport at the National Railway Museum also on the route which also includes Rowntree Park, and Knavesmire,York’s race course.

Alternatively cycling in North Yorkshire could mean a day out in the Yorkshire Dales. a great route starts in the town of Ilkley, which you may recognise as one of the towns in Yorkshire on the Tour de France route. You can pick up a map from the Tourist Office opposite the train station and decide on the length of your bike ride. Take in the sights including Bolton Priory, Cavendish Park and Grassington and the stunning landscape of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
