So why bonfire night linked to the historical city of York? You need look no further than the man himself Guy Fawkes. Guy Fawkes was born and educated in the city of York in the sixteenth century. Most recently adopted as the face of anti establishment, his everlasting fame attracts visitors to the historical city of York and in particular to York’s Guy Fawkes Inn. A blue plaque on the outsides identifies this inn in High Petergate as his birthplace. York Minster and is the home of Chocolate. There is plenty for the early Christmas shopper. Be it the great array of shops in the city or the shopping centres and designer outlets located within a short drive.
