When you spend Halloween in York, you can experience The Great York Ghost Search from the 26 October –31 October. Maps are available from Visitor information centre located in the city centre close to York Minster. Visit York advise there are 26 Ghost Lamps as well as hundreds of hidden Mini Ghosts to be found. The 26 Ghost Lamps are located in shop windows on some of York’s most atmospheric streets. Each Ghost Lamp is named from A-Z and is personalised by a different local artist or designer. There is also a competition, details of which are in the map .
For the Mini Ghosts:“Search on the Mini Ghosts snickleways to try and find your very own fearsome figure! Each evening from 4 – 7pm there will be 50 mini ghosts hiding in York’s shadowy corners and crevices, some with extra special decoration. If you are lucky enough to find a mini ghost, we politely ask that searchers limit their collection to just one per person. “
